Frequently Asked Questions
LENGTH OF TREATMENT A
good rule of thumb is to allow one month of regular treatment (regular meaning 2x per week) for every month you have had the
condition. Multiple modalities, such as massage with acupuncture and chiropractic will generally yield faster results
that are more complete, because you are addressing several aspects at the same time – bones (chiropractic), muscles
(deep tissue massage), pain/ inflammation/ weakness and atrophy (acupuncture and oriental medicine) .
Chronic
or severe medical conditions require more frequent treatments in the beginning, and take a longer time to resolve. Herbal
medicine and/or supplements may be required to fully resolve the condition.
CONSULTATION
EXPECTATIONS On your first visit to our office, the Acupuncturist will sit down
with you to discuss your health concerns, issues or problems. This information will help in determining what course of examinations
to take with your case. At this time, you will also have an orientation to Chinese medicine, and a description of how
Acupuncture and Chinese medicine works. REPORT OF FINDINGS During the report, the Acupuncturist will go over the findings from your examination and let you know if your
case can be accepted for care. A thorough explanation of any findings will be told to you and there will be as much time as
you need for any additional questions or concerns. The Acupuncturist will then let you know how long it will take to correct
your problem, how often you will need to be seen, and how much money it may cost. At this time your Acupuncturist will go
over the best recommendations with you. - Relief Care- the first phase of care focused
on getting rid of pain.
- Corrective Care- phase where we continue care to further correct
your problem. During this phase, you are pain free, but continuing to work toward permanent correction and improve your body's
function.
- Maintenance Care- is when the problem has been corrected and the focus becomes
maintaining results and further prevention. Maintenance is different for everyone.
The
type of care you decide is up to you. The Acupuncturist’s goal is to provide you with the information you need to make
the best decisions for your own personal health care. Also, if your problem is beyond the scope of practice of Chinese medicine
we will gladly refer you to a different kind of practitioner to help you get the best results for your problem.
